*From The Archives* One Simple Question to get Yourself UNSTUCK 4/22/2015

Are you stuck?

It happens to all of us.

Analysis paralysis. Should I or shouldn’t I? What do I really want to do? Go out with friends or stay in sans pants? Quit my job or ask for a raise? Pizza or Salad? Buy a house? Join that FaceBook group? Ack!

There is one simple question you can ask that will get you on the right track.

It really is this simple. One question. It won’t fail you.

Ask your body.

That’s right, ask your body. That living, breathing, and primally intelligent body that you live in every day. You’re living in an animal. Yep, your body is an animal. And it runs all on instinct.

So, all you have to do is ask it what it wants.

Like this.

Deep breath in, long breath out.

What do I really want to do?

or

Do I want _____ or ______?

or

How will it feel if I _______?

Listen for the answer.

Give it some time. Ask again.

How can you tell?

Sometimes you can’t. Sometimes you need to ask a couple times. But it tends to boil down to this.

Do you feel Expansion or Contraction?

Yes is expansive. It’s an opening sensation. Bigger, taller, occupying more space. Shoulders drop. Heart opens up. Smiles.

No contracts. The body protects itself. Ugh. Curling inward. Collapse.

It may be really subtle or really obvious. But seek the sensation. How do the options make your body feel?

There’s your answer.
